Our President, Ill. George R. Wacob served as Potentate of Kismet Shrine Center in 2003. He is a Past Master of Brandeis Lodge #1165, its past Secretary and District Brotherhood Chairman. In addition, he has served his lodge as a Trustee and on various Lodge and District committees. He is also a member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Rockville Center-32. He has received the Herman Weiss Medal for work in his Masonic District. He will be President of the Queens Masonic Association in May, 2008
Ill. Wacob is a Trustee of Kismet Shriners and a recipient of the 24 pt. Samsar Award (Kismet's Highest Honor). He is a Life Member of International Cabiri and has served as Hospital Transportation Coordinator and Medical Screening Chairman. He has also been awarded Super Driver Status at the Philadelphia Unit.
He is a Past President and member of the Board of Directors of Queens County Shrine Club, and is a member of the East End Shrine Club, Hillbilly Clan #96, Knights of Mecca and the Royal Order of Jesters, L.I. Court #174. He founded and was the first Commodore of Kismet Yacht Club, also founded and was first Secretary/ Treasurer of the Mini-Chopper Unit. He has been Co-Chairman of "FEZ" News Magazine, served on the Imperial Captain of the Guard Committee as well as various M.A.S.A. committees. He is Chairman of the New York Ontario Shrine Association's Masonic Relations Committee.
Ill. Wacob was a member of the Board of Governors for 5 years and was Chairman of the Applications Committee at Shriners Hospitals for Children, Philadelphia Unit.
His business and professional career have included: Master Shipfitter, Brooklyn Navy Yard, Shop Steward at Navy Yard, Research and Design Draftsman, President of Bocaw Fence Company, Retired Decorated New York City Fire Fighter with 28 years service in Search & Rescue and was Union Representative for two Fire Companies.
Ill. Wacob was born in New York City on November 5th, 1943 and is a member of St. Cyril's Church. He has been married for forty years to Lorraine Wacob who has recently retired from working with Special Children at a BOCES School. They have two grown children, Denise and George Jr. as well as two beautiful grandchildren, David and Alexandra.
